Clamping method of slender shaft

 1. A slender shaft is installed between the two centers. There is no installation error in this method, and it is easy to ensure the coaxiality of the workpiece. However, the rigidity is poor and it is prone to sensation. It is used for workpieces whose length to diameter ratio is not very large, and the margin is small, requiring repeated installations.

  2. Clamp the slender shaft with one clamp and one top. In order to prevent repeated positioning, the clamping jaws should be shorter, or a ∅4mm×20mm steel wire should be inserted between the jaws and the shaft. One clamp and one top are more rigid than two tops and are widely used.

   When turning a slender shaft with a relatively large length and diameter, the reverse feed cutting method should be used. The turning tool is fed from the chuck to the tailstock direction, so that the workpiece is subjected to axial tension, which can eliminate sensation and improve Processing quality.

  3. Use the base frame to support the slender shaft

  ①The base frame is directly supported in the middle of the workpiece. When the workpiece can be turned in sections, a groove supporting the base frame in the middle of the blank has a small surface roughness value and a small coaxiality. It is adhered to the lathe Rotating base coaxial.

  ②The slender shaft is supported by a transition sleeve, and the support claws of the base frame contact the outer circle of the transition sleeve. There are four screws on both ends of the transition sleeve. The blank workpiece is clamped with the screws and the transition sleeve is adjusted. The axis of the cylinder's outer circle coincides with the axis of rotation of the lathe.

  4. Use the tool holder to support the slender shaft

  ①Two-claw follower, the follower follows the turning tool to move, the cutting resistance of the turning tool to the workpiece makes the workpiece stick to the two supporting claws of the follower to reduce deformation.

  ②Three-jaw follower tool holder, a supporting claw under the three-jaw follower tool holder bears the weight of the workpiece, which can overcome the lack of the two-jaw follower tool holder, so that it is stable during turning and is not prone to sensation.

   The contact pressure between the supporting claws of the tool rest and the workpiece should be moderate, not too large or too small. If the contact pressure is too large, it will appear a slub shape. If the contact pressure is too small, the tool rest will not work, showing a polygonal shape. .

  ③The ring type follower holder, the ferrule device is in the special follower holder, and the turning tool is turned between the two rings.
