Starch glue What are the differences between starch glue capsules and gelatin capsules?

by:Foxron     2021-11-15
Gelatin capsules generally need to collect animal skins and bones as raw materials for processing and production, and the quality of raw materials varies. Plant-derived capsules such as HPMC capsules and seaweed polysaccharide capsules show many advantages over gelatin capsules, but their raw materials are more expensive than gelatin. The hydroxypropyl starch is obtained by hydroxypropylation of starch and has a wide range of sources, such as mung bean starch, wheat starch, potato starch, tapioca starch, etc., and is easy to prepare.

During the preparation of starch capsules, plasticizers, binders and gelling agents can be used or not used according to the situation, and the resulting tailing net glue can be fully recovered. The amino groups in the animal-derived gelatin are easily cross-linked with certain drugs, causing the drugs to deteriorate; while the tapioca starch capsules made of hydroxypropyl starch are not easy to deteriorate, have no cross-linking reaction, have good stability, and have a long shelf life. The existing gelatin capsule production equipment can be directly used to produce hydroxypropyl starch hollow capsules, eliminating the need for equipment modification or replacement. Downstream health products and pharmaceutical preparations developed with starch capsules are priced higher than traditional gelatin products, and the high profit margin makes channels more motivated to promote. Compared with gelatin capsules, starch capsules have more advantages in production technology, facilities and equipment, environmental protection, and customer groups, which also provides a competitive advantage for starch capsules in the fierce market competition.
