Requirements for materials in the processing of precision mechanical parts

Not all materials can be processed for precision mechanical parts. Some materials are too hard to exceed the hardness of the machined parts, and the machine parts may collapse. Therefore, these materials are not suitable for precision machined parts processing, unless they are Parts made of special materials, or laser cut.
The materials used for precision mechanical parts processing are divided into two categories, metallic materials and non-metallic materials. For metal materials, the hardness is greater than stainless steel, followed by cast iron, followed by copper, and then aluminum. The processing of ceramics, plastics, etc. is attributed to the processing of non-metallic materials.

The processing of precision mechanical parts mainly puts forward requirements for the hardness of the material. For some occasions, the higher the hardness, the better, but it is limited to the hardness requirements of the processed parts. The processed materials should not be too hard. It just can't be processed. The material is moderately soft and hard, at least one level lower than the hardness of the machine part. At the same time, it also depends on the purpose of the processed device and the reasonable selection of the machine part.

There are still some requirements for materials in the processing of precision mechanical parts. Not all materials are suitable for processing, such as materials that are too soft or too hard. The former is not necessary for processing, while the latter cannot be processed. Therefore, we must pay attention to the density of the material before processing.

Assuming that the density is too large, it is equivalent to the hardness. If the hardness exceeds the hardness of the machine part (lathe tool), it cannot be machined. It will not only damage the part, but also pose a danger, such as turning tool flying. Bump out to hurt others and so on. Therefore, in general, for mechanical processing, the material material must be lower than the hardness of the machine knife, so that it can be processed.
